BBC pundit Garth Crooks has been speaking highly of Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish, and suggested he is exactly the sort of player needed to help stop the rot at Old Trafford.
Aston Villa battled to a 2-2 draw with United at Old Trafford yesterday. Grealish was in outstanding form in the game, scoring a stunning opener and giving the United defence the runaround for much of the clash.
In fact, he was fouled eight times in the game, as the Red Devils struggled to control him.
Crooks, writing in his BBC Team of the Week column, suggested that Grealish deserved some extra compensation for the harsh treatment he received before suggesting his performance will have many at United thinking about his availability.
“After the attention paid to Jack Grealish by Manchester United, I think he is entitled to danger money. I can’t remember when a team have inflicted so many tackles on a single player. I suppose Grealish should take that as a compliment.
“The Aston Villa captain scored a wonderful goal, had a fabulous game at Old Trafford and is precisely the sort of player United need to bolster their prospects. United fans are having to watch too many ordinary players while they are being asked to pay Champions League prices.”
Aston Villa fans will certainly agree with Crooks’ decision to include Grealish in his team of the week. However, they will not be pleased with his assertion regarding a potential Manchester United switch.
Grealish has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, as reported by ESPN, but Villa fans remain certain that the best place for the playmaker is at Villa Park.
