Garth Crooks compares Spurs target Ismaila Sarr to Sadio Mane

It was reported by Eurosport last month that Spurs had become the latest Premier League club to consider a move for Ismaila Sarr.

Sarr has been outstanding throughout his time with Watford. He scored five goals in his first Premier League campaign, and he bagged a further 13 as the Hornets sealed promotion at the first attempt.

Unsurprisingly, Watford were determined to keep the Senegal international over the summer.

Eurosport reported in August that they wanted more than £50 million for Sarr with Spurs considering a potential move for the 23-year-old.

Sarr has since shown exactly why he has been linked with a big-money move. He has already scored three times for Xisco Munoz’s men at the start of this campaign.

Two of those strikes came at the weekend as Watford beat Norwich 3-1 at Carrow Road.

And following the game, former Spurs striker Garth Crooks named Sarr in his Team of the Week. The BBC pundit went on to make quite the comparison.

“The movement and anticipation for both his goals was quite outstanding,” he told BBC Sport. “At 23, Ismaila Sarr has a lot to offer and has a similar game to his Senegal team-mate Sadio Mane.”

Spurs will expect battle for Sarr if they remain interested heading into future window

Sarr has been an inspired signing for Watford. And if he continues to shine over the course of the campaign, their resolve to keep him is surely going to be tested.

Unfortunately for Spurs, his asking price is reportedly over £50 million already. And Eurosport noted that the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United have previously shown an interest.

So landing his signature would not be at all easy, it seems.

But Crooks’s Mane comparison highlights what a coup it could be for Tottenham.
