Garth Crooks hailed Liverpool defender Joe Gomez after he completed 90 minutes in the Thursday night win over Sheffield United.
The Reds cruised to a 2-0 home victory against the Blades in the Premier League and restored a 13-point lead back at the top of the table.
Jurgen Klopp’s team started 2020 with a dominant display where they had 75 per cent possession and could have had more goals.
Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were on the scoresheet for the Merseyside giants, while the defence kept a fifth clean sheet in a row in the league.
BBC pundit Crooks praised Gomez after the Sheffield United win by selecting him in his team of the week and feel he’s back to his best.
“Joe Gomez is back in his favourite position and looking tremendous again,” Crooks told BBC Sport.

TBR’s View:
Gomez has had to be patient this season at Liverpool, with teammate Joel Matip often getting the nod ahead of him at centre-back alongside Virgil Van Dijk.
The 22-year-old showed his versatility at times when slotting in at right-back, but ultimately his best position is in the heart of defence.
Gomez is now getting a consistent run in the team next to Van Dijk and the duo are looking unstoppable together.
The England international is rediscovering the kind of form that made him such a highly-rated talent and he’s playing a major role in a team that are flying towards the title.
