Garth Crooks has heaped praise on Liverpool star Sadio Mane during his Team of the Week piece on the BBC Sport website.
The Senegalese forward scored a superb brace to put Chelsea to the sword during a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
After the Blues were reduced to 10-men Liverpool put their foot to the floor and Jurgen Klopp’s men were brilliant during a dominant second half.
Crooks enjoyed Mane’s showing and was quick to praise him for his sparkling performance.
He told BBC Sport: “This was a brilliant performance by Liverpool at Chelsea.
“The start of the show was Sadio Mane who is fast becoming one of my favourite players.
“So much of his game is brimming with integrity. Most strikers would have stopped chasing having given the ball away, but Mane’s determination to win the ball back was badly underestimated by Kepa, resulting in his second goal of the game.”
Mane signed for Liverpool in 2016 and quite simply he has proved a revelation under Klopp’s management.
The 28-year-old has fired 83 goals and registered 34 assists from his 173 appearances, winning the Premier League and Champions League during his time at Anfield.
Mane earns £100,000-a-week at Liverpool and is very much one of Klopp’s most important players.
On Sunday’s showing, they remain the team to beat, whilst Mane looks capable of firing another glut of goals during 2020/21.
Liverpool looked a little bit fragile defensively in their first game against Leeds but they were excellent against Chelsea on Sunday.
They were solid in defence, fluent in midfield and with Mane in full flight, they looked as though they’d score every time they went forward.
Once again, Klopp’s side are on the march and Liverpool will take some stopping this season.
