Garth Crooks has lauded Arsenal star, Emile Smith Rowe, for his match-winning goal against Watford yesterday.

The former Tottenham player named the Gunners youngster in his BBC Sport Team of the Week.

Smith Rowe took advantage of a lapse in concentration from Danny Rose to fire home a scrumptious winning goal.

The 21-year-old has started all but one of Arsenal’s 11 games in the Premier League this season.

He has helped the Gunners revive their season, with their unbeaten run not stretching to eight matches.

Crooks was mightily pleased with his performance and discussed his efforts in his BBC Sport Team of the Week piece.

He claimed: “This lad is making a name for himself very quickly. That’s not because he’s fitting well into an Arsenal – who have won their last three games and not lost in 10 matches in all competitions – but he’s scoring goals as well.

“His latest, against a Watford side who were reckless and lacked discipline, was brilliantly taken.”

Smith Rowe burst onto the scene during last season and has largely been a mainstay in the team ever since.

He is enjoying a good run of form and has now scored in the last three Premier League fixtures.

Exciting: Smith Rowe is a future star and he’s thriving at Arsenal

The scary thing about Smith Rowe is that there really is no ceiling when it comes to his potential.

Prior to last season, Smith Rowe spent time on loan with RB Leipzig and Huddersfield and some fans were wondering what was next.

Arteta clearly saw something in him, however, and now he’s thriving amid an exciting, young group of players in place at Arsenal.

There is more to come from the creative forward player and the fact he’s now weighing in with goals also bodes well.

A star is being born at Arsenal and supporters are quickly running out of superlative for the £42,000-a-week youngster.
