Gareth Bale has told Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that he cannot imagine just how much better his winning goal at the weekend would feel if there were supporters inside the stadium.
Bale bagged his first goal since returning to North London on loan in the summer. And it proved to be an important one for Jose Mourinho’s side.

His late header ensured that Tottenham secured the three points from Sunday’s clash with Brighton. The goal came just three minutes after the Welshman had been introduced into the game.
And following the win, Bale explained just how much it meant to get his first Tottenham goal in more than seven years.

“From an individual point of view it was great but even more satisfying to see the game out, for it to be the winning goal and to get three points,” he told the club’s official website.
“It’s an incredible feeling personally, and you just wish the fans were here to celebrate. If that was the case, then… I can’t imagine that feeling. The most important thing is that I got the goal for the team and we got the three points.”
TBR View: Goal marks special moment in Bale’s career
It is fair to say that Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would have erupted had a full crowd witnessed the moment.
Bale has had a lot of critics and doubters emerge during his time at Real Madrid. Some of the criticism has definitely been unfair. But he would be forgiven for still feeling that he had a point to prove upon his return to the Premier League.
And of course, it may not have been a goal that will end up on the incredible highlight reel he could put together from his career so far. But it certainly does appear that it is up there amongst some of his more special and significant goals.
