Nottingham Forest confirmed the signing of defender Tyler Blackett on Saturday morning – and the club’s former player Garath McCleary reacted positively to the news.
Forest confirmed on their official website this weekend that the 26-year-old has completed a switch to the City Ground.
He has been snapped up on a free transfer by the Midlands club, as his contract expired at Reading at the end of the 2019/20 season.
Blackett has joined Sabri Lamouchi’s side to provide competition in the defensive areas and he’s someone that came through the academy at Manchester United, before spending most of his senior career in the Championship with Reading.
The Englishman made 23 appearances across all competitions last season for the Royals and appears to be a shrewd piece of business.
Ex-Forest player McCleary described the signing as a “brilliant” one for the Reds and wished his former Reading teammate good luck on Twitter.
I tell you what, brilliant signing!! Good luck T 🙌🏾🖤

Blackett looks a really good signing on paper for Forest, as he’s a versatile defender that can comfortably play either centre-back or left-back and is a great option to have in the squad.
He’s got the experience of competing in the Championship and on his day is a solid defender that is difficult to beat one-on-one, plus he should be entering his prime years.
