Leeds United’s charge towards the Premier League has attracted interest from all over, but it’s perhaps received its biggest shout-out to date.
The Yorkshire giants currently sit second in the Championship table and are looking to bring Premier League football back to Elland Road.
Leeds have now somehow been mentioned in the same sentence as fictional world of Game of Thrones.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays character Jamie Lannister in the popular HBO programme, was discussing possible endings to Game of Thrones ahead of the final season.
Coster-Waldau was appearing on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show in America and teased Game of Thrones fans by suggesting that the show could end with a man called Bielsa saving the day.
Needless to say Coster-Waldau is in fact a Leeds fan and he was enjoying a joke about how well Marcelo Bielsa has done at Elland Road since his arrival last summer.
“There is this thing about a guy called Bielsa, which is a guy who comes and magically transforms this world for the good,” Coster-Waldau said.
“When everything is lost he will come and turn up north, he will magically transform north into this beautiful paradise.
“Everyone says in Bielsa we trust. No it’s Bielsa the manager of Leeds United.”
Bielsa really has captured the imagination of all Leeds fans in just under a year and it seems like even celebrity fans can’t get enough of him.
He really has become a huge favourite in Yorkshire for his impact on the club and his high intensity style has made the team an attractive side to watch.
With just five league games to remaining in the Championship, automatic promotion is not in their hands and Sheffield United still hold the aces.
Leeds supporters would surely love to avoid the drama of the play-offs and it could take a perfect ending to the season to earn promotion to the top flight.
