Gabriel Martinelli has posted on Twitter after starring in his first ever Arsenal start as the Gunners eased past Nottingham Forest 5-0 at the Emirates on Tuesday night in the Carabao Cup.
Martinelli, 18, joined Arsenal in the summer for £6million (Guardian) from Brazilian outfit Ituano Futebol Clube. A winger by trade, Martinelli was given his debut by Unai Emery as a substitute in the 1-0 win over Newcastle United on the opening day.
However, since then, Martinelli has failed to feature for the Gunners until he started against Nottingham Forest in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night. His first start for Arsenal came alongside many injury returnees.
Kieran Tierney, Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin all returned after long spells out with injury. Naturally a winger, Martinelli started up front and scored two goals – while Holding, Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson also got on the score sheet.

TBR’s view – Martinelli an Arsenal bargain at just £6m
Certainly on Tuesday night’s showing, that fee is ridiculously small for a player of his quality – at such a young age. Martinelli showed The Emirates crowd he has a bit of everything with his goals, and all-round play.
Offering versatility by playing up front, Martinelli surprised many by opening the scoring with his head after a superb cross from Calum Chambers. For his second, he dropped deep and ran at the Forest defence.
Yes, his long-range effort did get a deflection, but the confidence he showed to shoot from there on his first start for Arsenal is something to be admired. At £6million, Martinelli is showing all the signs that he is a bargain.
