Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes has waxed lyrical about Gunners captain Martin Odegaard ahead of their return to Champions League action.
The Arsenal centre-back says his teammate is a “brilliant player” who has been helping the team out “a lot” and vice versa.
Odegaard has come a very long way since joining Arsenal in 2021. He is not only living up to his potential, but exceeding it.
The Norwegian was deemed one of the best youngsters in world football when he joined Real Madrid at just 16 years of age back in 2015.
However, things didn’t quite go to plan for Odegaard at the Bernabeu, and for a while there were worries he wasn’t going to achieve his potential.
This changed when he joined Arsenal in 2021 on an initial loan, before making the permanent switch for a £30million fee.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is a ‘brilliant player’
Since first coming in through the doors at London Colney, Odegaard has become Arsenal captain and clocked up 136 competitive club appearances, 32 goals and 22 assists.
Now, Odegaard is set to become the first Gunners captain to lead the team out into a Champions League knockout match since Laurent Koscielny in 2017.
And Gabriel is delighted with Odegaard’s contributions in the Arsenal camp.
The Brazilian defender, speaking to football.london at the pre-match presser, said: “Martin is a brilliant player.
“And from the years that I’ve spent with him he has been helping us a lot and we have been helping him also.”
Odegaard really is going from strength to strength for Arsenal and for Norway. He’s amazing on the pitch and is clearly loved on the training ground and in the dressing room.
At 25 years of age, he’s yet to reach his prime, so it’ll be exciting to see how he continues to develop for Arsenal in their pursuit of glory over the coming years.
