Gabriel Magalhaes has sent a classy message to the Arsenal fans on social media by issuing an apology on Instagram following his red card in Wednesday’s clash with Southampton.

Mikel Arteta’s men ended their recent run of home defeats. But their fixture with the Saints was, once again, incredibly eventful.

Former Arsenal star Theo Walcott gave the visitors the lead. But Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ended his wait for a goal with a superb finish in the second-half.

Both sides would go on to hit the woodwork as they searched for a winner. But unfortunately, there was also another red card for Arsenal.

Gabriel was shown two yellows, with the second coming as he held onto Walcott as the forward tried to run away from the defender.

Of course, Arsenal’s discipline under Arteta has been a key talking point in recent days. Granit Xhaka was shown a straight red at the weekend.

Unlike Xhaka however, Gabriel has wasted little time in issuing an apology. The centre-back has taken to Instagram this evening to comment on his error…

It is a blow for Arsenal to lose the Brazilian. He has been one of the few players who has largely avoided any criticism for his performances this season.

Gabriel has settled in superbly since his summer switch to North London. And that helps explain why plenty of Arsenal fans responded with messages of support and encouragement for the youngster.
