Gabriel Magalhaes and Bukayo Saka thought 21-year-old Arsenal player was on fire against Chelsea yesterday

Arsenal once again showed their title-challenging credentials yesterday, with a 1-0 win over Chelsea.

Stamford Bridge traditionally hasn’t been the happiest hunting ground for the Gunners, but they’ve now won on their previous three visits.

Gabriel Magalhaes scored the only goal of the game in the second half, tapping in a Bukayo Saka corner.

In reality, the result was much more comfortable than the score line suggests.

Arsenal completely negated any attacking threat from Chelsea after half-time, and should really have scored at least one more goal.

Gabriel Jesus had another great game, despite missing the best chance of the first half.

However, it was the performance of William Saliba that really caught people’s attention.

Saliba was named man of the match, and Jermaine Jenas described him as being ‘too quick and too strong’ for Chelsea.

Gabriel and Saka were both impressed with Saliba’s performance.

They took to social media to praise the 21-year-old defender as Arsenal continued their unlikely title charge.

Saliba took to Instagram after the match to celebrate the Gunners’ victory.

The caption on his post simply read, ‘London? RED.’

Aaron Ramsdale replied saying ‘Well done Willy’, appreciating his defender’s efforts to protect his goal.

Gabriel and Saka were both clearly impressed with Saliba, and thought he was on fire after his performance yesterday.

Saliba’s fine form at club level is almost certainly going to earn him a call-up to the France squad for the World Cup.

Arteta will be upset that he’ll be losing one of his most important players to the tournament, but it’s no less than he deserves.

Arsenal’s manager admitted before the game he doesn’t always understand how his centre-backs communicate on the pitch.

He won’t mind too much how they do it if they continue to put in performances like they did yesterday.
