Reported Everton transfer target Gabriel Magalhaes has been discussing the apparent interest in his services with the press in Brazil this week.
A report from The Independent this month suggested that the Toffees are in talks with Ligue 1 side Lille regarding a potential move for the Brazilian in the summer.
Gabriel, who has attracted interest from several other clubs, is said to be valued at around £25-£30 million and would make a key recruit in the Everton defence.
But speaking to Globo Esporte, Gabriel admitted he had seen the reports but also enforced a reminder that he only recently signed a new deal at the French club.
“I just renewed my contract. I heard about conversations, I saw things on websites in England, but I have my head focused on Lille and I am very calm to finish the season well, achieve great things in the next season.”
At the moment, it would seem that Gabriel’s attention has not turned toward any potential transfer away from Lille.
His attention is instead fixed on finishing the season with Lille, whenever that may be amid the current global health crisis.
As for Everton, they will no doubt be hopeful of making a deal happen as they look to plug the gaps in what has become a leaky defence.
Gabriel has been something of a revelation in France this season and bringing him to Goodison Park would be something of a coup.
