Gabriel Jesus posts five-word injury update just before Arsenal take on Milan today

Gabriel Jesus has posted a positive injury update on Instagram ahead of Arsenal taking on AC Milan in a friendly this afternoon. The talented striker is facing a spell on the sidelines after injuring his knee at the World Cup.

Jesus is going to be a big miss for Arsenal. He signed for the Gunners in the summer; costing the club £45 million from Manchester City where he’d worked with Mikel Arteta previously.

Not being able to call on Jesus is going to be tough for the Arsenal manager. His early season form had seen the Gunners go into the World Cup break on top of the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has settled in at the Emirates Stadium nicely, scoring five goals and claiming seven assists. His work rate has been excellent and supporters have really taken to him.

His time at City was somewhat frustrating. Although he can boast about four Premier League titles during his time at the club, it’s fair to say that he wasn’t regularly considered integral.

In 236 appearances for the club, he scored 95 goals and claimed 46 assists. A lot of his appearances were from the bench though and it’s no surprise that he moved on in search of regular starts.

It would appear that Jesus’ surgery was a success. It’s now a week since he went under the knife and he’s taken to social media to keep the Gunners fan base in the loop about his injury.

The striker does seem in good spirits. He will be missing for quite some time after such an injury and his rehabilitation looks like being a tough time.

Jesus being injured could hand an opportunity to Eddie Nketiah. The two players can’t be considered in the same bracket, but he has waited patiently for a real chance to shine.

If the Gunners can stay in touch for the title during his absence, it would be a boost. Having him back for the final stages of the season could be huge and he could help the team get over the line and achieve their ambitions for 2022/23.
