Gabriel Magalhaes and Bukayo Saka have lauded William Saliba on Instagram in reaction to the Arsenal defender’s performance in the North London derby on Saturday.

Saliba got his first taste of the derby at the Emirates. But based on his debut showing, it appears that he is going to be a stalwart for the Gunners for years to come.

Of course, it is no secret that Saliba seems to be about as close to a Rolls-Royce as a footballer can be. He has made an electric start to the season with Mikel Arteta’s side.

But some may not have expected such an assured showing against Tottenham, when you consider the quality of the front three he was up against.

However, the Frenchman was outrageously good. His second-half nutmeg of Oliver Skipp will be shown for years and years. But there was also an audacious dribble out of his own box in the first-half.

The performance further confirmed that the 21-year-old is one of the best prospects in the Premier League. And he has now been lauded on social media by a couple of his teammates.

Both Gabriel and Saka were clearly impressed as Saliba posted his reaction on Instagram to the win…

‘What a player’

Obviously, it is impossible to know what would have happened had events played out differently. But Saliba’s form at the start of this campaign surely vindicates Arteta.

The Arsenal boss came in for a lot of criticism for the way he held off on using the France international. Supporters had been imploring Arteta to make him a focal point of the side throughout his time on the books.

But Arteta did not rush his introduction into the side.

Some will probably be convinced – based on his current form – that he would have been up to the task last season.

However, Saliba’s performances so far suggest that the Arsenal boss got everything absolutely spot on. He has certainly proved to be worth the wait for Gunners fans.
