Gabriel Agbonlahor slams ‘ruthless’ Pep Guardiola for one thing he did to Jack Grealish recently

Jack Grealish’s time at Manchester City appears to be nearing its end after Pep Guardiola omitted him from the squad for the Club World Cup.

City signed Grealish for £100 million following his standout performances at Aston Villa. However, the 29-year-old has struggled to meet expectations, managing just 17 goals in 157 appearances across all competitions.

Manchester City are now reportedly open to offloading the winger, with Newcastle United showing strong interest in Grealish.

Guardiola’s decision to leave Grealish out of such a high-profile tournament squad could well be the final nail in the coffin for his future at the Etihad.

Former Villa captain Gabriel Agbonlahor has now criticised Guardiola for his treatment of Grealish.

Gabriel Agbonlahor slams Pep Guardiola for Jack Grealish treatment

Speaking to talkSPORT, Agbonlahor slammed ‘ruthless’ Guardiola for the way he has treated Grealish, especially recently.

He cited the incident against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final, where the manager opted to bring on a youngster over Grealish. He said: “We’ve seen this before from Pep. Remember Leroy Sane did great for Manchester City. Raheem Sterling did great for Manchester City. Pep can be ruthless at times. If he feels that you’re not part of his future plans, he will get rid of you.

“Kevin De Bruyne, no one thought Kevin De Bruyne would be allowed to go on a free transfer. He’s getting rid of Kevin De Bruyne!

“I think towards the end of the season, it felt to me like it got a bit personal. I think bringing on a young kid for his debut in an FA Cup final when you’re chasing a goal when you’ve got someone who’s had the career Jack Grealish has had at Manchester City as well as Aston Villa to not bring him on to change the game was odd. That seemed like a bit personal to me.

“And he had a good season as well, especially in the FA Cup. Playing in the FA Cup last season, every time he played he had a very good game. Then to leave him out of the final just seemed a bit odd. Like a last little dig to get you out, to upset you, to want you to move.”

“There’ll be a lot of clubs around Europe that will want Jack Grealish in their team. I’m not sure what Premier League team would suit him at the moment.”

Man City open to loaning out Jack Grealish

While Manchester City are open to selling Grealish this summer, they have not ruled out the possibility of sending him out on loan.

As reported by TBR Football, several Premier League clubs are interested in Grealish, including Newcastle United, Aston Villa, West Ham, and Everton.

However, Grealish’s high wages remain a significant stumbling block for potential suitors, prompting City to seriously consider a loan move as an alternative.

Tottenham are also said to be in the mix, with former Watford striker Troy Deeney backing Grealish to make the switch to Spurs this summer.

With strong interest from multiple clubs, it remains to be seen where the former Aston Villa captain will end up ahead of the new season.
