Gabriel Agbonlahor says he’d be devastated if rumour coming out of Man United is actually true

Manchester United are far from done in this summer’s transfer window.

The Red Devils have signed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo from Wolves and Brentford respectively, but they need reinforcements in several other areas of their squad.

A new number six is a necessity, while an upgrade on Andre Onana in goal would also give United a big boost ahead of the start of the new season.

However, the absolute priority is a new striker, and Ruben Amorim has set his sights on a couple of players.

Gabriel Agbonlahor reacts to Manchester United potentially signing Ollie Watkins

Gabriel Agbonlahor loves Aston Villa.

The Englishman, who was born in Birmingham, played 391 games for the Villans and is still adored by many fans there.

Another forward who Aston Villa supporters love is Ollie Watkins.

The 29-year-old has been incredible at Villa Park since he joined them from Brentford in 2020. He is a key player for them, but there is a chance that he could leave.

TBR confirmed that Manchester United have held talks to sign Watkins, as well as Benjamin Sesko, and it is likely that the Englishman will be slightly cheaper.

That is why a move to Old Trafford cannot be disregarded, but Agbonlahor is hoping that this doesn’t happen. The pundit claimed that he would be very sad if Watkins joins Manchester United.

When he was told that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is a target for Villa, Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT: “Why you lying for? Don’t lie. Don’t you dare, don’t you dare. Who put that in there?

“You think you’re going to take Watkins and we’re going to get Calvert-Lewin? No way, I’d move countries. Because Man United, of all clubs, taking Ollie Watkins would really hurt me.”

Who should Manchester United sign out of Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Sesko?

Watkins and Sesko are both different types of strikers.

The Aston Villa star is at his best when he has space to run in behind, and he is also capable of drifting to either flank during a game to make space for his teammates.

Sesko, on the other hand, is an out-and-out centre-forward. He is big, strong, great in the air and is significantly younger than Watkins as well.

The RB Leipzig star definitely has the higher ceiling, but we still think Manchester United should sign Watkins, as he is proven in the Premier League and can hit the ground running.

That is exactly what the Red Devils need after what was a truly disappointing 2024/25 season.
