Gabriel Agbonlahor has admitted he was left “fuming” after what he saw one member of the Liverpool squad do recently.

The Reds have been flying so far this season, picking up exactly where they left off last season as they aim to retain the Premier League title, while challenging for silverware elsewhere.

Arne Slot’s team are unbeaten in the Premier League so far, sitting top of the division, while they also won their first Champions League fixture as well.

In midweek, Liverpool defeated Southampton 2-1 to progress in the EFL Cup, but Agbonlahor was unimpressed by what he saw from one individual.

Gabriel Agbonlahor was “fuming” with Hugo Ekitike

Liverpool left things late again in midweek, which has become a trademark for them this season, as Hugo Ekitike scored the winner in the 86th minute.

However, Liverpool’s new striker got caught up in the moment and opted to take his shirt off in celebration, which led to him receiving a yellow card.

Ekitke had already been booked earlier in the game, leading to him being sent off, which Agbonlahor was left shocked by as he reacted on talkSPORT.

“Slot will definitely fine him, and he probably hammered him in the changing room in front of everyone. Like who you trying to prove something to? It’s disrespectful.

“Are you trying to tell Liverpool fans that I’m the main man because Isak signed? When I saw it, I was fuming. I’m like, what are you doing, mate?

“Like, you got nothing to prove. You’re going to play, you’re going to get game time this season.”

It is unknown whether Slot hammered Ekitike in the changing room, but the Liverpool boss expressed his frustrations publicly to the press, admitting he thought it was “stupid.”

Arne Slot will be forced to change his Liverpool team due to Hugo Ekitike’s suspension

Ekitike started his Liverpool career positively, proving himself to be a goal threat as he immediately adapted to life in the Premier League.

However, Slot will now be without Ekitike for their Premier League fixture against Crystal Palace on Saturday, as he is serving a one-match suspension.

With Liverpool’s other new signing, Alexander Isak, not fully fit due to not having a full pre-season, it will test the squad depth.

Slot will have to adapt and adjust to life without Ekitike this weekend, which will be one of his toughest tests this season, given Crystal Palace’s good form.
