'Like Barcelona': TalkSPORT pundit makes huge Arsenal claim, as Tottenham pick up massive opening day win
TalkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that Arsenal have delivered the best 45 minutes of the season so far.
Despite the Premier League season not even being a weekend old, Agbonlahor has been speaking on TalkSPORT to his old mate Jamie O’Hara about the Gunners and local rivals, Spurs. Of course, as we know, O’Hara is very much in the Tottenham corner and was bigging up what Antonio Conte’s men did today against Southampton.
However, Agbonlahor believes that – so far anyway – it is Arsenal who have shown the most out of any team on the opening weekend of Premier League action.
“Arsenal have shown me the best 45 minutes out of all the football we have seen this season, out of all the games we have seen so far,” Agbonlahor said.
“Last night and today. They were unbelievable. Gabriel Jesus was so sharp. Zinchenko on the ball. Arsenal were playing like Barcelona of 2011.”
Of course, it is early days and Tottenham did smash four past Southampton. But Agbonhalor wasn’t having much of that, insisting Southampton’s defenders were at blame for Spurs’ ease of goalscoring.
TBR’s View: Arsenal Start Well But This Is A Big Claim
The Gunners might have looked brilliant at times last night but it’s a bit of a bold claim from Agbonlahor to say they looked like the great Barcelona of ten years back.
Sure, Arsenal looked impressive. However, they have a long way to go to get to that level and while it was a good performance, you could make the same argument for Tottenham as well.
if anything, this just shows how big a season this is going to be for Spurs and Arsenal. Both have started well, and both will be keen to keep on delivering.
