'Future is bright' - Southampton fans rave about Michael Obafemi

Michael Obafemi became Southampton’s youngest ever goal scorer when he netted their third against Huddersfield Town.

Southampton pulled away from the relegation zone with a timely 3-1 win away at Huddersfield.

And the fans are already loving the influence of Ralph Hasenhuttl, who followed the 3-2 win against Arsenal with three points at Huddersfield.

Obafemi, who was born in this century, found the net in the 71st minute to restore the Saints’ two-goal advantage.

With Huddersfield pushing hard for an equaliser, Obafemi’s goal came at exactly the right time.

The once-capped Republic of Ireland international had been given a few first-team chances under Mark Hughes.

But after missing a few chances, the 18-year-old has finally scored his first goal for the south coast club.

Standing at 5ft 7in tall, Obafemi is diminutive in height but he makes up for it in energy, pace and strength.

Nathan Redmond set the teenager up for the goal and Obafemi ensured he took his chance to guide Southampton to victory.

After scoring his first league goal, Southampton fans were effusive in their praise for the academy product.

Below are some opinions about their promising young talent.
