‘Future captain’, ‘Kevin Ball level’: Some Sunderland fans wowed by ‘unreal’ video of player
A number of Sunderland fans have lauded Luke O’Nien on Twitter after the Black Cats shared a video of his impressive block from their Easter Monday game.
Lee Johnson’s charges played out a 1-1 draw at Peterborough in their League One match earlier this week, a point which kept Sunderland just two points off behind second-placed Posh.
Sunderland fell behind in the second half as substitute Siriki Dembele opened the scoring, but Aiden McGeady salvaged a point in the latter stages of the game with a great free kick.

During the game, O’Nien made a superb diving block to thwart a shot from the dangerous Jonson Clarke-Harris, sending the ball out for a corner.
Sunderland shared footage of the crucial block on their Twitter feed:

And fans loved seeing it back, praising O’Nien for his quality and urging the club to offer him a new contract, his current one expiring in the summer.
His attitude is an absolute inspiration to all fans. The lad would do anything for the badge. Nice to see the lads with a bit of fight in them, it’s been a long time tbf πͺπͺ
