'Funny team': Paul Merson predicts result of Leeds v Wolves clash
Leeds United get their Premier League season underway today against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road.
Jesse Marsch’s side survived on the final day of last season and have bolstered their ranks considerably since.
Although Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha have left Leeds, the club has made six new signings.
Meanwhile, Wolves boss Bruno Lage will be desperate for a good start to the new season.
The Molineux outfit’s form dropped off during the run-in and they failed to claim a European place.
And in terms of signings, Wolves have brought in two new players – Nathan Collins and Hwang Hee-chan.
Paul Merson, writing on Sportskeeda, gave his predictions for the match at Elland Road.
“Wolves are a funny team, you never know what you’re going to get,” wrote the pundit.
“One minute they look brilliant and the next, they look like they’re not going to score for a month.
“Jesse Marsch did well towards the end of last season, but he’ll have to do without Kalvin Phillips this year.
“Leeds struggled last year and they’ll need to win this game if they don’t want another struggle in the Premier League.
“It’s going to be a hot summer’s day, and this match will likely end in a draw,” he concluded, predicting a 1-1 scoreline.
Leeds collected four points from Wolves last season.
In their last outing, the Whites came from two goals behind to win 3-2 at Molineux.
