Fulham’s Antonee Robinson says Aston Villa man has been the best player in the Premier League this season

Fulham defender Antonee Robinson has named an Aston Villa star as his Premier League Player of the Season.

Aston Villa look set to secure a top-four finish despite a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Brighton last weekend.

Unai Emery’s men currently sit seven points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham with two games left to play. A victory against Liverpool this weekend would secure Champions League football for next season.

Should Villa get over the line as expected, they are expected to have a few players in the mix for Player of the Season.

And Antonee Robinson has named one Aston Villa player as the best player in the Premier League this term.

Robinson says Ollie Watkins is the Premier League’s Player of the Season

In a video posted on Fulham’s Instagram account, they asked the squad to select their Premier League Player of the Season.

Ollie Watkins was the only Villa player to receive a vote, with Robinson picking the Englishman.

Watkins should be in with a shout

Only Erling Haaland, Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak have scored more goals than Watkins in the Premier League this season.

The striker has bagged 19 times in 35 league appearances while netting 27 in all competitions.

Not only has Watkins provided goals for the Villains, he’s also proven to be the league’s best creator this term.

Indeed, the 28-year-old has provided the most assists in the Premier League, racking up a total of 12.

Phil Foden seems like the favourite to scoop the award at the moment, particularly if Manchester City go on to win the title. But given Watkins’ impact at Villa Park this season, he should be a serious contender.

Elsewhere, you’d imagine that Emery will be up for the manager’s award after the job he’s done at Villa this term.

The Spaniard has transformed the Villains into one of the best sides in the league after taking over with the club in 17th place last season.
