Chelsea outcast Danny Drinkwater is one of three Blues players who has been shown around the Motspur Park training ground of their local rivals Fulham with a view to a January move, according to Love Sport.
Drinkwater is miles down the midfield pecking order under Maurizio Sarri and alongside team-mates Gary Cahill and Victor Moses, he has reportedly been around the training ground as the Cottagers look to convince him about the merits of a switch across west London this month.
Fulham are managed by a man who knows how to get the best out of Drinkwater; Claudio Ranieri was oversaw the Leicester side that won the Premier League against all odds back in 2016 as the English midfielder played a starring role.
But his arrival would be bad news for Fulham captain Tom Cairney, who has struggled for gametime this season and has already been linked with a move to Newcastle this month.
Cairney was the heartbeat of Slavisa Jokanovic’s slick passing team, but the change of formation and style that Ranieri has brought to the Cottage does not suit him.
And given the bumper wages Drinkwater is likely to be on, if Ranieri did get him, he would want to put him at the centre of the side and it is tough to see how he and Cairney can co-exist.
