Ryan Sessegnon has posted on Twitter after Fulham proved triumphant in the Championship play-off final at Wembley with a 2-1 extra-time win over Brentford – and Fulham fans have responded to the Tottenham ace’s Tweet.
With neither side carving out a golden chance in the initial 90 minutes, it took a moment of magic from Fulham left-back Joe Bryan to open the deadlock. His 35-yard free-kick deceived all, including Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.
Bryan notched a second further into injury time after a neat one-two, while Henrik Dalsgaard scored a late goal that proved too little, and far too late. It saw Fulham return to the top flight at the first attempt.
Sessegnon joined Tottenham from Fulham last summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £25million (BBC). He has endured a difficult spell at Spurs, but showed his affiliation for Fulham by congratulating them on promotion.
The 20-year-old played 125 times for Fulham before his move to Spurs – having a hand in 43 goals despite playing as a left-back as much as a winger. He has since managed just 12 appearances for the north Londoners.
Many are of the opinion that the 12-time England Under-21 international should look at going on loan this season, and Fulham fans responded to Sessegnon’s Tweet by urging him to return to the Cottagers.
