Fulham fans react to footage of players after relegation was confirmed at Watford

Fulham’s relegation has been on the cards for quite some time now but it was confirmed by a 4-1 defeat against Watford last night.

Fulham’s relegation from the Premier League has been in the pipeline for a number of months now but it was confirmed by a 4-1 loss away from home against Watford last night.

Goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure, Will Hughes, Troy Deeney and Kiko Femenia put the Cottagers to the sword and confirmed the inevitable at Vicarage Road.

The Whites have still not won an away game this season and their shambolic recruitment and the way the blueprint that got them out of the Championship was torn apart has created the backdrop amid which relegation was always on the cards.

But it’s perhaps not until it gets confirmed that the impact really hits home with the players, especially those such as Tom Cairney and Ryan Sessegnon, who were so instrumental in last season’s promotion but have found themselves marginalised this season and unable to stop Fulham’s slide.

And the club tweeted footage of both players looking genuinely devastated after relegation was confirmed, which gave Fulham supporters some hope for next season, if they can keep those players around.

Relegation is a bitter pill to swallow but returning to the second tier should allow Fulham to drop their ticket prices, shed the hangers-on who were only at the club for the Premier League money and get back to playing the flowing football they were so synonymous with last season.

That’s perhaps why these fans on Twitter found some rays of light on a crushing evening for their side…
