Fulham were thrashed 4-0 by FA Cup holders Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium yesterday. Goals from Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and a brace from Gabriel Jesus ensured a comfortable passage for Pep Guardiola’s team.
The Cottagers were facing a mammoth task anyway and Tim Ream’s red card in the sixth minute ensured mission impossible for Scott Parker’s charges.
The 32-year-old saw red for pulling down Jesus in the build-up to the first goal. It left Fulham with an uphill challenge and saw City run riot on a forgettable afternoon for the visitors.

Ream has started 28 of Fulham’s 29 league games this season and has proved a mainstay in the team under Parker.
The Cottagers sit third in the division and are nicely poised for a tilt at winning promotion back to the Premier League.
Ream has played 180 times for Fulham since arriving at Craven Cottage in 2015.
He is an important player but with Alfie Mawson waiting patiently in the wings, he could face a battle to regain his place in the team.

Fulham supporters weren’t impressed with his calamitous defending yesterday and took to Twitter after the game to vent their frustrations.
Here is a selection of tweets from the Fulham faithful regarding the performance of Ream:
