Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Fulham goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli this summer as the newly-promoted side’s pursuit of a stopper continues – and Fulham fans have reacted on Twitter.
The Daily Mail claim 27-year-old Bettinelli is a target for Villa, despite Dean Smith’s side being linked with a multitude of goalkeepers throughout the window. Jack Butland, Edouard Mendy and Tom Heaton are all linked.
Villa have an abundance of options between the sticks but it is clear that Smith does not trust current number one Jed Steer enough to give him a chance in goal, in the Premier League next season.
Though he shone during the second half of last season, he lacks the calibre nor the experience to play in the top flight. Lovre Kalinic has flopped at Villa since his move, and the Croatian has been linked with a move to France.

Norway international Orjan Nyland was dropped before rupturing his achilles and his future is in doubt, when he finally returns to full fitness. So – a new goalkeeper is needed and Bettinelli has been identified.
The London-born stopper, who has been called up by England on numerous occasions but yet to earn a cap, has two years left on his current Fulham deal. The 6ft 4in colossus managed just eight appearances last season.
Fulham are likely to consider Bettinelli as first choice following their relegation to the Championship, and fans have discussed the rumours linking the Englishman with a return to the Premier League at Villa.
