‘FSG strike again’: Liverpool fans react to reports they nearly signed Ismaila Sarr

Liverpool fans were having their say yesterday as a surprising report emerged suggesting the club very nearly signed Watford winger, Ismail Sarr.

Via the Liverpool Echo, Sarr’s agent claimed that a deal was all but tied up for Sarr to move to Anfield, before the Reds pulled the plug after baulking at the apparent £35m fee Watford wanted.

Sarr had been linked with a move to the Reds last summer, following the Hornets’ relegation. However, no move ever materialised, with Liverpool instead splashing their money on Diogo Jota and Thiago.

Liverpool fans, then, were somewhat surprised to hear about the potential deal for Sarr. And while some fans think they got the best end anyway by landing Jota, there were some Reds supporters on Twitter who couldn’t resist a dig at the owners, FSG.
