Timo Werner really is a marmite player.
You either love him or you don’t. For some, Werner is an incredibly smart player who uses his pace to great effect to terrorise defences, while others remain hung up on the fact that his finishing just isn’t at the standard it should be.
Speaking on his podcast, Peter Crouch has been discussing the £15m man, and he says that Werner really frustrates him sometimes as a player, claiming that his movement is brilliant, but that finishing just isn’t there to turn those smart moves into goals.

Timo Werner annoys Peter Crouch
The pundit shared his verdict on the German.
“He has got so much pace and gets in all the time. He has another one on one, where if Kane gets in that position we have seen it so many times, you just know he is finishing it. But with him I just knew,” Crouch said.
“For his goal his movement was really good. It’s frustrating because it’s there, but at times he can frustrate. He’s an unbelievable threat and he’s always worth his place in the team.
So frustrating
We can absolutely sympathise with Crouch here.
There’s nothing more frustrating, as either a fan or a neutral, than watching a player who is 90% of the way there towards being a top class player.
Werner almost has it all, he’s quick, he’s clever and he excels in a lot of areas technically, but his finishing has proven to be a problem time and time again.
Usually with players like this, you’d say that it will improve in time, but at the age of 28 now, Werner is probably the finished product, and if he can’t score simple chances at this point, he may never be able to.
Werner can be a useful player, but he’s never going to be the goalscorer that Tottenham perhaps need him to be.
