Arsenal may have to be wary of Hatem Ben Arfa tonight, after the Rennes attacker was frozen out at Paris Saint-Germain under Unai Emery.

The winger has enjoyed a good season with his new club after joining last summer.

He’s contributed seven goals and three assists so far this term and appears to be enjoying his football again at the age of 32.

Ben Arfa endured a torrid time at the Parc des Prince under Emery, with the pair reportedly clashing frequently.

Emery famously told the Frenchman to stop acting like Lionel Messi, and dumped him int the reserves for the whole of the 2017/18 season.

GFFN reported that Ben Arfa used to impersonate Emery to his teammates which did not help his cause.

Ben Arfa’s revenge?

In a much better place now, Ben Arfa could wreak havoc against Arsenal his old foe Emery.

The talented star remains a brilliant flair player, and he will surely be hoping to show the Spaniard up in the Europa League.

Ben Arfa has troubled Arsenal before – scoring against the Gunners in a 2-1 Premier League defeat for Newcastle United back in the 2011/12 season.

Emery is wary of his former player. He said as quoted by Goal: “We know they have good organisation, good players. One is Ben Arfa, we need to control his quality and skills.

“The two matches they played against Real Betis he played very well with a big performance.

“Not only Ben Arfa, they have [Ismaila] Sarr and good defensive players. Mostly Ben Arfa is very important for them.”

Arsenal take on Rennes at the Roazhon Park in the first leg of the tie on Thursday.
