'From what I'm told': Romano shares update about Liverpool and Salah contract talks

Fabrizio Romano has spoken about the state of play regarding negotiations between Liverpool and Mohamed Salah over a new contract.

The esteemed journalist was able to give two positive updates for Reds fans.

The first is that Salah loves everything about Liverpool and is happy at the club, and the second is that the Reds will “surely” make it their priority this season to tie the Egyptian down to a new deal.

The 29-year-old has been superb throughout his time at Anfield, including last season when other players suffered downturns in form.

What-If EVERY Premier League Team Was A Country

Salah has made 212 appearances for Liverpool, registering 134 goals and 50 assists.

He has averaged 21 goals per season across the last three Premier League campaigns, testament to his amazing consistency.

This season, Salah has registered an impressive nine goals and three assists from just nine appearances in all competitions.

Salah “really happy at Liverpool” – Romano

With his contract expiring in 2023, it’ll be crucial for Liverpool to know where they stand before the end of this season, when it enters its last 12 months.

“Keep an eye on the Mo Salah contract situation, I would say, because now they’re negotiating, Liverpool and Mo Salah,” Romano told the latest Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE YouTube video, Gazzetta Dello Five.

“He’s 29 so he needs to decide about his personal life.

It’s not just about contract and money but it’s the final big contract for him and so it’s important to make the right choice.

“But he’s still negotiating with Liverpool – from what I’m told he loves Liverpool, he loves the football club, the fans, the stadium, everything,

“So he’s really happy at Liverpool, but a new contract is not agreed yet.

“So I would keep an eye out on many clubs if some player will move in the summer like Kylian Mbappe – (PSG) will try again.

“But in this period, starting from now until next summer, for sure Liverpool’s priority will be to extend Mo Salah’s contract.”

The Independent claims Salah is seeking wages of between £300,000 and £380,000-a-week on a contract until at least 2025.
