Leeds United had two bids reportedly rejected for Ben White and the hashtag ‘free Ben White’ emerged on social media in the following hours – and now some Leeds players have commented similar on Instagram.
White, 22, was a mainstay under Marcelo Bielsa last season – playing all 49 matches in all competitions for the Yorkshire side. He helped Leeds keep 24 clean sheets, and has been touted as a future England international.
Now, Leeds are keen to keep White. Sky Sports claimed last week that Leeds had seen two bids for White rejected – an initial £18.5million offer and then a £22million bid. Reports of a £30million package are wide of the mark.
Ian Poveda – a January signing from Manchester City – was one of three Leeds players to go on holiday with White this summer and the pocket-sized winger posted an inside joke on Instagram with Kalvin Phillips.

Poveda joined Phillips and Tyler Roberts in accompanying White on holiday, as supporters urged the Leeds trio to convince White over a permanent move to Elland Road. The problem seems to be agreeing a fee, though.
In the comments on Poveda’s Instagram, Roberts, Phillips and the winger himself urged Brighton to “free him up” and “free my brother” – in response to the previously trending hashtag about White.
