Free agent striker wanted by some Spurs fans says he's 'more motivated' than ever and 'fit as a fiddle'
Spurs might have brought in some top talents over the summer, but they haven’t strengthened at centre-forward.
Although Tottenham have some top attackers in their ranks, Harry Kane remains the only senior out-and-out striker at N17.
Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has suggested that Nuno Espirito Santo feels Son could play as a centre-forward.
And in Dane Scarlett, Tottenham have a top striker coming through the ranks, though Premier League football would be a big ask for a 17-year-old.
Therefore, some Spurs fans have suggested that their club could snap up a free agent to provide cover for Kane.
And quite a few reckon Daniel Sturridge would be a decent shout.
Sturridge could still on do a job in the conference league— OCH20 (@OwenTHFC1882) September 1, 2021
Surely do bits for a season against conference league sides lol pic.twitter.com/GaWJorg9k8— 🇹🇳Captain Højbjerg🇹🇳 (@NabilJ90) September 1, 2021
Honestly wouldn’t be mad at it, let the guy play cup rounds with the younger guys and guys who need minutes. Keeps Kane and Son safe and I’m sure he’d be considered home grown on small wages too.— J (@JesusHinojosa__) September 1, 2021
I’d take a punt on sturridge— Simon Worth (@simonworth) September 1, 2021
Same. Injury prone but free, probably not much in wages at this point in his career, and homegrown so helps with registration limits.— Sandy Tait 🏳️🌈🐓 (@SandyTaitFM) September 1, 2021
Sturridge for HG and vibes when he scores? Might inspire our young strikers too.— ap (@otheranthony) September 1, 2021
And Sturridge, who turned 32 earlier this week, has taken to Instagram with a message for his followers – and perhaps for potential suitors.
“Year 32,” he wrote. “More motivated than I’ve ever been in my life to be successful.
“Older, wiser and fit as a fiddle. God is good. Thanks everyone for the birthday messages. Means a lot.”
Sturridge boasts an impressive CV, having played for the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool.
He also has a Premier League, two Champions League medals and two FA Cups to his name, as well as 26 England caps.
Sturridge also recently revealed that Spurs ace Son Heung-min was one of his favourite players, deeming him “world class”.
