Frederik Alves has posted on Instagram for the first time as a West Ham United player after it was confirmed he had swapped Danish side Silkeborg for the Premier League club – underlining his delight to join the Hammers.
Despite being just 21 years of age, Alves has clocked up 50 appearances for second-tier Danish side Silkeborg – 16 of which were in the top tier of Danish football. Silkeborg were relegated from the Superligaen last season.
An exciting talent, Alves has five caps for Denmark’s Under-21 side and will now link up with West Ham’s Under-23 team. It is believed a fee for Alves to move to East London will be a figure of just £1million, as per BT.
Alves has posted on Instagram after a move was completed, with the defender penning a four-year deal and a move to be confirmed on January 2. The centre-back spoke of his joy at penning a move to the Hammers on Instagram.
TBR’s view – Alves a top talent, but plenty of competition ahead
Angelo Ogbonna has come a warrior at centre-back for West Ham this season, while Fabian Balbuena is enjoying his best spell in London alongside the Italy international. Aaron Cresswell has been played on the left of a back three.
However, the Hammers also boast summer signing Craig Dawson, highly-rated Issa Diop and Declan Rice who can play in the middle of the defence – though continues to shine in midfield. Plenty of competition ahead.
But it might just be that Moyes’ usage of a back-three gives him a better chance of breaking into the senior side.
