Freddie Ljungberg has criticised Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin for the individual mistake he made in the weekend’s defeat to Tottenham in the North London derby.
Arsenal’s poor start to the Premier League continued on Sunday with a 2-0 loss away to rivals Spurs, which was their sixth defeat in 11 top-flight games so far this season.
Mikel Arteta’s side are sat 15th in the league table after defeat to current leaders Spurs, who have been in contrasting form domestically and are being discussed as potential title contenders.
Former Arsenal coach and interim boss Ljungberg was asked to do some post-match analysis on the weekend’s fixture, where he did pick out an error from Gunners right-back Bellerin.
He felt that the 25-year-old full-back was completely caught out of position for the opening Spurs goal, as in-form Heung-Min Son found space to run in behind him before scoring with a stunning finish from outside the box.
“You see he’s not looking at Son at all, he’s looking straight [at] at the ball. I know Hector will have watched clips just on Son to know how to defend him and that’s where he switches off in my opinion,” Ljungberg told Sky Sports Main Event channel (7:30pm, 7 December).

TBR’s View:
Bellerin, who earns £110,000-a-week (Spotrac), is an ever-present in the Arsenal XI by starting every league game this season and he’s made 218 senior appearances for the club.
But the Spanish speedster has struggled defensively on more than one occasion this season and he was unable to prevent one of Europe’s most in-form players in Son, who is tormenting most of his opponents right now.
He bombed forward into attack on several occasions for the Gunners, but didn’t show the same kind of enthusiasm with his back to goal against Spurs.
Bellerin continues to be a regular at the Emirates Stadium and is clear of teammate Cedric Soares in the pecking order, although there are plenty of Arsenal fans that want that to change.
