Fraser Hornby would be the perfect Sunderland recruit before loan window shuts

Sunderland have started their attempt to win immediate promotion back to the Championship well. The Black Cats are unbeaten in the league and sit second behind Peterborough United, who have shown excellent form so far this term.

But they are still looking to make improvements to the first-team before the loan window shuts this week.

One area in which they do look slim is up front and it is no secret that Sunderland boss Jack Ross is looking to bring in a new striker.

Of course, money is tight at the Stadium of Light so Sunderland need to be picky with their potential recruit.

One player who would be the perfect recruit is Everton youngster Fraser Hornby.

The 6ft 2 ins striker signed his first professional contract with the Toffees in the summer and has been compared in style to club legend Duncan Ferguson.

A former midfielder, his passing and technique are above average but he is also a physical specimen at just 18-years-old.

This summer he was excellent for Scotland at the Toulon Tournament, which had many at Everton standing up and taking notice of the player.

Sunderland, who signed Tyias Browning and Brendan Galloway on loan from Everton last season, would be the perfect place for Hornby to take the next step.

He turns 19 in two weeks time and a loan spell might be the perfect next step in his career. If Sunderland are looking for another striker, then a loan deal for Hornby might be one of the best options out there.
