Albian Ajeti has completed a permanent move to Scottish champions Celtic after a difficult spell at West Ham United during 2019-20 – and Frank McAvennie, who played for both clubs, has given his reaction on Twitter.
Ajeti, 23, was signed by West Ham last summer from Swiss side FC Basel after scoring 43 goals in 96 games. The Swiss striker, though, failed to score in 12 appearances for the Hammers last season.
The Scottish Herald claim Celtic have spent £5million to sign Ajeti, who also has 10 caps for Switzerland. It sees him join a side that already rich in attacking options, with Odsonne Edouard, Leigh Griffiths and Patryk Klimala.
Following the news that Ajeti has signed a four-year deal at Celtic, McAvennie responded by stating that he hopes the Swiss forward can thrive at Parkhead – after failing to be given a chance to shine during his time at the London Stadium.

TBR’s view – Does Ajeti need regular game time to shine?
Because if he does, he may struggle. At Basel, he was first choice – starting 67 of his 96 appearances. It saw him score 43 but also create 21, and if he is to thrive at Celtic, he does really need to start.
The signing of Ajeti should convince Neil Lennon to eventually combine Edouard and Ajeti up front – and when Edouard eventually leaves – it gives Celtic a striker that can shine in the Frenchman’s place as the club’s first-choice striker.
