Celtic are celebrating a well-earned Old Firm derby win over Glasgow rivals Rangers after defeating Steven Gerrard’s men 2-0 at Ibrox.
Celtic thoroughly deserved the win, outplaying Rangers for much of the game despite the hype before the game surrounding Rangers’ closing of the gap.
Indeed, many neutrals looked at Rangers back-four of new signings Hatem Abd Elhamed, Christopher Julien and Boli Bolingoli along with midfield convert Nir Bitton and felt Celtic could be in for a defeat.

However, all four players performed brilliantly as Rangers struggled to break them down.
It was a fact not lost on one former Celtic player. Frank McAvennie had two prolific spells at Celtic as a player but the striker clearly appreciates good defending as well.
He sent out this tweet after the game.
It was certainly an excellent display from a Celtic defence which may have looked weak to neutrals prior to kick-off.
But they were excellent defensively, whilst their composure and ability on the ball also allowed Celtic a base for most of their offence going the other way.
It was a tremendous display from the defensive unit, one which certainly warranted the appreciation of the former Scotland international.
