Jack Grealish is expected to be on a number of Premier League clubs’ shortlists this summer and West Ham United legend Frank McAvennie has urged the Hammers to move for the Aston Villa playmaker on Love Sport Radio.
Grealish, 23, has been in excellent form for Villa this season, having a hand in nine goals during his 24 league and cup Championship outings. He has scored four times himself, and created five more.
He was the victim of an attack from a Birmingham fan during the recent Second City derby, before scoring the winner in a 1-0 victory over the Blues. Now, Premier League clubs are interested again.
Tottenham almost signed Grealish last summer and The Sun claims West Ham are joining Spurs in the race to land him for £25million. McAvennie claimed he would be an excellent signing for Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

“The boy has got talent, that’s for sure. He’s got a bit about him. He’s got a bit of swagger which is not a bad thing for West Ham,” McAvennie said. “They could do with someone like that to go in and take them to the next level.”
“We’ve just got wait and see what kind of players he brings in. Grealish would be a good one. I wouldn’t say no to that.”
TBR’s view
Grealish would be an excellent addition for most Premier League sides. At West Ham, the uncapped Englishman would certainly be a hit from fans, but may find that he has to fight Manuel Lanzini for a place in the side.
Pellegrini tends to use a 4-2-3-1 system and Grealish, ideally, would play in the middle of the three. But Lanzini is proven at Premier League level and certainly considered one of the best in the division at what he does.
So the choice is clear. Spend a whopping £25million on Grealish as competition for Lanzini, or spend the money elsewhere on positions that needs strengthening – such as up front.
