Frank Lampard says 24-year-old Everton ace is incredible in training
Everton boss Frank Lampard has waxed lyrical about Toffees defender Jonjoe Kenny, in conversation with the club media team.
Lampard says the 24-year-old “will give you everything in training” and truly “loves Everton”.
Kenny has come through the ranks at Goodison Park, but has often struggled for game time at the club.
Save for an extended first-team run in 2017-18, the full-back has often been on the fringes of the Everton squad.
Kenny has also taken in four loans whilst on the Blues’ books.
His contract at Goodison expires at the end of the season, so his future at the club is uncertain.
However, Kenny impressed for Everton in the 3-0 win over Leeds last time out, earning plaudits from fans.
He helped open the scoring for the Toffees and even pulled off a couple of Cruyff turns during the game.
As per Whoscored, he made two key passes, tried his luck with one effort and completed two dribbles.
In terms of defensive contributions, Kenny made two tackles, three interceptions and one clearance.
“I love Jonjoe’s attitude in training”
Lampard, speaking to Everton TV, singled the academy graduate out for praise.
“I love Jonjoe’s attitude in training every day,” Lampard told the Everton website.
“He loves Everton and always wants to train and do better. Any session and any drill you do, he wants to give everything.
“And he is a quality player, [good with] both feet and technically very good for a defender.
“He will give you everything, positionally he was great, in terms of holding his position, then jumping out and making tackles at the right time.
“Jonjoe is perfect for any game – but especially when we needed discipline and effort and toughness, and he showed those things. I was really pleased with him.”
