Frank Lampard is Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer, producing countless iconic moments for the football club. But what is his favourite Premier League goal?
Lampard is the highest-scoring midfielder in Premier League history, finding the back of the net 177 times in the top flight throughout his spells at West Ham United, Chelsea, and Manchester City.
The former England international made 609 appearances in the Premier League throughout his career, and regularly found himself on the scoresheet.
With an ability to score all types of goals from set pieces and thunderous strikes to technical lobs and headers, Lampard has a plethora of great finishes. But one stands out to him due to the emotion involved.

Frank Lampard reveals his ultimate Premier League goal won Chelsea the Premier League
Choosing a favourite goal isn’t easy for any footballer, but with as many to choose from as Lampard has, it becomes even more complex.
Lampard scored 211 goals in total during his Chelsea career in all competitions, but one in particular stands out to him.
He spoke to James Alcott for the Premier League to reflect on his goals, revealing that his goal against Bolton Wanderers in 2005 was his ultimate finish.
“Probably because it was our first Premier League title win as a group, Chelsea’s first for 50 years, it’s definitely that goal that is my goosebump moment. I watch that back probably more than any other goal. It’s the one that gets me now, even all those years later.”
Lampard did have Fabio Carvalho with him at the time, who he could have squared the ball to for a tap-in. However, that was a risk that Lampard wasn’t willing to take in the moment.
“No. Who would pass to him in that position? If it was Drogba [then, maybe].”
Chelsea officially won the Premier League for the first time in 50 years with the win against Bolton that day, and Lampard played a key role throughout the season.

The goal itself might not be one of Lampard’s most eye-catching when compared to some of his long-distance strikes, or more technical shots.
However, taking the ball around Jussi Jaaskelainen was a different type of goal for him, especially since he had so much time to decide what he was going to do in that moment.
“I think the good thing was, looking back, I managed to stay cool. More time is not always a good thing it’s like, ‘what am I going to do?’ There’s too many decisions to make, and it can almost run away from you.’
“I knew I wasn’t an absolute speed merchant, so when you’re there, it’s almost just keep getting your touches out of your feet, and keep moving as quickly as you can. That was my first thought, as I remember it.”
Lampard also discussed the importance of Jaaskelainen’s movement in making his decision, which led to him taking a different tactic than he normally would have.
“The next thought was I would be led by the keeper’s decisions once you start to approach him. So the keeper is coming out at speed, so he put me in the position to make the decision to go around him, which wouldn’t have always been my go-to.
“I would generally kind of get close enough to find an angle and put it in the bottom corner. But when he came out to me quickly he kind of forced my decision to go around him.”
