Frank Lampard has labelled the Liverpool youngsters who have helped the Reds to the fifth round of the FA Cup fantastic, but suggested that he is expecting Jurgen Klopp to name his strongest side possible in Tuesday’s tie, in comments reported by Football London.
Chelsea host the Premier League leaders. And they will be hoping to capitalise after they suffered their first league defeat of the season at the weekend.
It will be intriguing to see what team Klopp picks for Tuesday night. Incredibly young sides have been named against Everton and Shrewsbury Town in the third and fourth rounds.
And Lampard was asked whether preparing to face Liverpool will be difficult due to the youngsters’ involvement in the competition.
“And they’ve been fantastic, but I would presume Liverpool would put out their strongest team, or there and thereabouts,” he said, as reported by Football London.
“We know whatever team they put out they will give us a very strong match.”
You could understand if Liverpool fans felt that winning the FA Cup had become a little more important. The Premier League may now be a little less of a priority as the title is almost definitely still going to be theirs.
Of course, they still have the Champions League to play for. And they will not want to do anything to jeopardise their march to the league title.
But perhaps losing that unbeaten run may give them more freedom to put a little more emphasis on the FA Cup.
