With eight games left to play, Southampton are now out of the relegation zone with a two-point cushion above Cardiff City.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s sole focus is keeping Southampton up but if he manages to do so, he will immediately turn his attention to the summer transfer window.

And according to recent reports, Southampton are already casting their eyes over one possible target.

Noticias de Gipuzkoa reports that Southampton could move for Francois Kamano, who Bordeaux rate between €15m and €20m.

The 22-year-old would be a wildcard signing, given his lack of experience in England, but he could prove to be a shrewd acquisition.

Kamano’s performances for Bordeaux this season have caught the eye with 10 goals in 33 Ligue 1 and Europa League games this season.

The Guinea international winger netted in the recent 1-1 draw with Rennes, which surely confirmed his place on Southampton’s radar.

Hasenhuttl will be looking to add several players to his squad to ensure another relegation battle is avoided and Kamano could be on his list of targets.

If Kamano can replicate his French top division form in the Premier League, then Southampton could have a very exciting talent on the wings.

It would be a risk but it could pay off for the Saints, who will be desperate to climb up the table next season.
