France legend Jean-Pierre Papin has lavished praise on Hugo Lloris during an interview with French newspaper L’Equipe after the Tottenham star’s heroics against Portugal.
The 33-year-old produced three stunning saves to deny the reigning European Champions and earn France a return to winning ways.
Lloris is Jose Mourinho’s captain at Tottenham and has been in fine form during a strong start to the campaign.

On Saturday he took his good form to France’s game against Portugal in the Nations League.
N’Golo Kante scored the winner after 53 minutes but Didier Deschamps had Lloris to thank for the win.
Papin is a real hero of French football, scoring 30 goals during his 54 appearances for Les Bleus.
He was mightily impressed with the contribution of Lloris at the weekend.
Papin told L’Equipe: “I liked the mastery of this well-organised team. They displayed seriousness and discipline, which is reassuring for the future. We could fear that Portugal would crush us with their mastery, it was not the case.
“France was sure of the football, well in place, with a great goalkeeper. Lloris had three balls to touch and he achieves three miracles.”

Mourinho has been loyal to a large number of his Tottenham players, with Lloris one of those he clearly trusts.
The 33-year-old is established as the club’s number one goalkeeper, making 336 appearances since arriving in North London in 2012.

Tottenham have been tipped by some people to win the Premier League this season and whether they do or not will depend on the form of Lloris.
Whilst Harry Kane and Son Heung-min get the credit up top, the £100,000-a-week stopper is integral at the back.
Lloris is showing no sign of losing his form as he gets older and if anything he’s playing better now than he ever has done during his career.
