It appears Spanish striker Fran Sol is a very wanted man. The two Old Firm clubs are the main frontrunners to sign the player from Willem II. The report from the Sunday Mirror (16/12/2018; pg 49) suggests that Celtic and Rangers are among several British clubs, including Leeds United, Burnley and Derby County, keen on the player.

Celtic are looking for a new striker as Leigh Griffiths takes some time away from the game. Sol has been in incredible form for the Dutch side. The striker has 15 goals in 18 games this season. With his contract currently expiring in the summer, Celtic have a great chance of signing the player.
When you consider his comments after Watford showed interest in May, Celtic have a great chance.
“Watford invited me to watch their game against Crystal Palace as an initial contact.
“But it was nothing special. I am looking towards the next step in my career – but it certainly won’t be Watford.
“My next move will be to a winning team where I get a lot of chances to score goals.”
Sol stated he wanted to join a winning team. The Spaniard wants to be chasing silverware at this stage of his career and battling in the mid-table of the Premier League, relegation zone or Championship clearly won’t appeal to him.
At Celtic, he will get what he wants. The Spaniard can fight for titles on a regular basis and hope to score goals galore at Parkhead.
Celtic are right to target the talented striker and he could prove something of a coup.
