Aston Villa are supposedly interested in replacing Steve Bruce with Andrea Stramaccioni.

As reported by Calciomercato, the Villans are ready to sack Bruce, after overseeing just three wins in their first nine Championship matches.

Chants of ‘Bruce out’ could be heard ringing around Villa Park during the 2-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

There is currently a lot of animosity towards the former Hull City boss, and it looks as if his days could be numbered.

And if they are, then Villa fans will want to know about the man who could be set to succeed him, Stramaccioni.

Here are a few things to know about the Italian…

‘Forced’ into coaching

Stramaccioni’s playing career was unfortunately cut short because of a serious knee injury, which prompted him into football management.

That was after he graduated La Sapienza University of Rome with a law degree.

He managed a number of amateur youth teams before joining the youth coaching staff at Roma in 2005.

14 months in charge of Inter

Stramaccioni was handed the reins at Serie A giants Internazionale following the sacking of Claudio Ranieri in 2012.

Inter finished sixth in the league under his guidance, and he masterminded a decisive victory over AC Milan, preventing them from winning the Scudetto. He also oversaw a 3-1 victory over Juventus, bringing to an end their 49-game unbeaten run.

He was fired after 14 months for finishing ninth in 2013 in his first full campaign.

It was nter’s first time missing out on a place in Europe for 15 years.

Questionable pedigree

Stramaccioni hasn’t really been successful in terms of trophies or high league finishes.

But he is still very young and new to the managerial game.

Before difficult stints at Sparta Prague, Panathinaikos and Udinese, he had a glowing reputation as one of Europe’s top up-and-coming coaches.

Some Villa fans will remember Stramaccioni’s name from a few months ago.

The Italian was touted as a potential replacement for Bruce, and apparently even met Villa executives.

The fact that his name is being bandied around again perhaps suggest there has been some contact.

It would be a huge risk for Villa to sack Bruce and replace him with Stramaccioni.

At Inter, his highest profile gig to date, he demonstrated a lack of tactical vision and made very peculiar changes in games when the going got tough.
