Ashley Cole – Roma

It is clear that Aston Villa are looking for experience in midfield and defence and, as such, they have been linked, by the Daily Mail, with former Chelsea and England left-back Ashley Cole, who hasn’t featured for current club Roma since March 2015.

Garde is in the market for a left-sided full-back after a knee injury to Jordan Amavi, who will be out for the rest of the season.

Cole is out of contract at the end of the season but Roma have hinted that the former international could leave on loan or even have his current deal terminated in January.

Ashley Cole was once a key player for Arsenal and Chelsea winning a number of trophies. He has made 385 Premier League appearances which has been one of the main drives behind Garde’s interest – experience is something Villa desperately need.
