Four January signings that could give Aston Villa a chance of survival

Aston Villa have made a woeful start to the Premier League campaign, picking up just eight points, while winning only one of their twenty games. Somewhat surprisingly, manager Remi Garde has spoken about his future at the club and said he will not leave, should the club be relegated.

With Aston Villa odds on to be relegated from the top flight, the Frenchman expects a number of fringe players to leave the club in January, including former England striker Gabriel Agbonlahor, who has been out of favour since the appointment of the new head coach.

With a number of players expected to leave the Midlands outfit, Villa fans will be keen to see Remi Garde showing interest in a number of names with experience and proven quality.

No team in Premier League history has survived the drop after being in Aston Villa’s position at Christmas, and with relegation seeming the only possible scenario, fans and pundits are already looking towards a rebuilding phase – a period focused on creating a squad of young players that will secure a regular starting place.

In the meantime, the club management must do their upmost to ensure Villa are not relegated with a whimper. In the following article, we highlight four players who could aid Remi Garde’s cause.
