Inigo Martinez – Real Sociedad

A bit of a wildcard, the Spaniard has long been tipped as a player with huge potential and often been linked with a move away from Real Sociedad, only for it never to emerge. Now 25 years old and with four caps to his name, including his most recent one against England in November, he still has time to achieve that potential.

Like Van Dijk and De Vrij, Martinez boasts excellent skills on the ball that would not look out of place further forward, with great control and vision, as well as his strength in defence and in the challenge.

At 5ft 11in, he may not be the tallest, which could be a concern for Liverpool, given that they lack height elsewhere in defence, which could be attributed to their questionable record at set pieces. That said, he could still be a worthwhile addition.
